After about a year of testing different solutions and back and forth about what kind of hosting best meets the needs of our customers. We have decided to implement cloud-based hosting to all of our WP-Ensure customers.

What is cloud hosting?

Traditional web hosting servers can host thousands of sites on one server and that server is located in a physical location somewhere on the planet. Cloud hosting differs from traditional hosting because each site is hosted on its own VPS (Virtual Private Server) and there are a lot of benefits that come with that.

The Benefits of Cloud Hosting

There are a lot of benefits for websites hosted on cloud servers but here are a few of the main ones.

Speed

We have always tried to use fast hosts, but nothing can compare to a site that has its own resources and is running on its own VPS or server.

Each VPS has it’s own CPU, RAM, drive space and bandwidth so your site can perform at it’s best. If your site needs more resources such as a marketing campaign about to be published, or your site has a lot of traffic, extra resources can be added, often with very little or no downtime. This allows flexibility to host tiny sites all the way up to huge multisites.

Server location

Cloud hosts can be anywhere in the world which speeds up websites considerably for users in that area.

During our tests, our customer in San Francisco saw a 3-second improvement in the loading of their website. 3 seconds is a lot. Nothing else had changed in the site, only the server location.

Another point about server location is the security of your data. EU customers should have data based in the EU. Customers in the U.S.A like to have their data stored in the U.S.A also. Our Finnish customers feel safer having their data within Finland.

With cloud hosting, you can offer a wide range of options for where your data is stored.

Security

Each website is in its own VPS which means if one site is hacked, it affects only that one site and server. Every site is contained which leads to better security for all.

When is the rollout happening?

The timetable for moving regular sites is the beginning of February 2021. Larger multisites and bigger applications will be moved at the beginning of March if not before. Please contact us for more information regarding your own website.
